Tautology

This piece, shot in 16mm film and transferred to DVD, deals with the endless cycle of redemption and temptation. Embedded in the tautological nature of this cycle is the problem of never being able to reach one’s ideals, and therefore satisfaction. In the work, the vehicle that carries this frustration comes in the form of a fleshy sculpture animation that humps its way through life via a shag rug. The film’s imagery and music reference typical cinematic cliches.
