Montoya Maria Del Carmen

Maria del Carmen Montoya is a multimedia artist. She works in ideas more so than in a particular medium, seeking out whatever material is most appropriate for each project. She holds a dual degree in Philosophy and Women’s Studies from Loyal University of Chicago and a Masters in Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design. Her research interests include the theological haunting of technology, electroacoustic instrument building and performance, and self-transgressive lived experiments as art practice. In addition to her studio work, she plays prepared piano in the MIG ensemble at Brown University and is coconspiritor in Aphasia Project, a multimedia performance duet, with composer Kevin Patton. She currently lives and works in Providence, RI, USA.
