Hyun Joo Min

Hyun Joo’s performance work is an extensive questioning of the body and its condition outside of the socially imposed conventions. Mostly, it is the artist’s own body which examines itself in the tensions of pain, disgust, and pleasure. However, it is not a matter of experiencing physical limitations or even of self-mortification. It is the body’s everyday interactions with its essential requirements such as food and nourishment or hygiene that Hyun Joo Min presents in deceptively simple constellations, only to break them up and alienate them in a strangely disturbing fashion.
