Wanderer

‘Wanderer’ describes the re-imagining of a particular area of a city. The work takes its name from wandering around the city of Manchester and capturing its hidden spaces through photography. This wandering acts as a symbol for the exploration of digital technology and its relationship to the imagination and the city. The short film consists of a series of photographs taken of Bridgewater Mill in Manchester. The work explores the way in which the language of digital technology re-maps our identity and relationship to our surroundings by way of employing a style of visual and audio layering to create a non-linear rhythm analysis. This piece is collaboration with sound artist Nina Whiteman who has produced the sound work for the piece using a mix of found and created sound. Last year Nina completed her Ph.D. in Electro-acoustic composition at Manchester University.
