Metaflipbook

The idea for Metaflipbook comes from a phrase that Toshio Iway, one of the most important contemporary interactive artists, said in an interview. This age is full of moving images, but why do we, myself included, find simple things such as flipbooks fascinating? This was the first question that interested me in interactive media. Flipbooks are much more enjoyable when you flip the pages yourself, in your own hands, rather than just watching someone else flip the pages for you. Thoshio Iwai, Beyond Media, Connecting Senses, ARS ELECTRONICA, Linz 2006. Metaflipbook is a video-animation. It is not interactive, but it was my first attempt towards achieving interactive narrative.
