Comparative structures: optical description of a mediated reality

Comparative Structures: is an interdisciplinary project with a multimedia component, being a result of an ongoing individual research and interaction with a team of scientists (ophthalmologists, geneticists). The project involves two directions of analysis that use information from the visible light spectrum obtained by optical systems: Newtonian & apochromatic telescopes assisted by computerized systems and OCT (optical coherence tomography) scanner, which not overstate the recorded reality. Two perspectives are revealed on the technologically mediated reality that produce a specialized image with a strong aesthetic and cultural content. The scientific image is transferred to perception and reshaped in artistic practice. Photo by Samaras Constantinos.
