Agio Oros – The Holy Mountain

A free adaptation of Rasputin’s response on Emperor Romanoff’s remark on purity of Mount Athos monk life. Where the church positivism stops, and the doctrine allows the control code of guilt, starts Satan’s playground. Man’s vanity of being in control of his true nature, his animalness, through institution of religion, is what George Orwell meant with ‘who controls the sexuality, controls the man’. Man will rather give his liberty of choice, and mistake, than fight with his own demons. But the demons persist and sometimes overcome even the most humble christians. This is a short nocturn on man’s nature, about his essential spirituality and carnality. It depicts a oniric meeting of two monks, in late spring night.
