Kosmopoulos Kosmas & Luna Park

Kosmas Kosmopoulos is working as a performer, dance and theatre teacher, choreographer and video artist. He studied from 1989 till 1995 at the Freie Universität in Berlin theatrical sciences and history of the arts. He continued his studies from 1995 till 1998 at the Performing Arts Research and Training Studios (P.A.R.T.S.) in Brussels under the artistic direction of Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker. (Studies made possible through a grant from the European Union / Kaleidoscope Program.) During his studies he joined workshops by Saburo Teshigawara, Lloyd Newson, Rui Horta, Emio Greco, Lynda Gaudreau, Amanda Miller, Jeremy Nelson and Thierry De May and he performed repertoire work of choreographers like Trisha Brown, William Forsyth, Wim Vandekeybus, Pina Bausch and Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker. He worked with Robert Wilson, Felix Ruckert, David Hernandez, Jan Ritsema, Tom Plischke, Randy Warshaw and Gisela Rocha. In 1999 he received a grant by the cultural ministry of arts in Berlin for his video work. His video films were invited and presented in different festivals. He was artistic director and co-founder of the company ALKYONIS (1998 – 2002, together with Anabel Schellekens) in Brussels, where he produced several of his own works which were successfully presented in Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, The Netherlands, France and Portugal. Between spring 2000 and 2001 Kosmas Kosmopoulos was invited as a guest professor at the KHL, the art high school in Genk (B). There he led different student projects of the department of product design, graphic and media.Since 2002 Kosmas Kosmopoulos is the artistic director of LUNA PARK in Athens. Works of the group have been presented in 2005 in Athens (1. Athens Video Art Festival and 4. Dance Festival by the Union of Greek Choreographers), Chania (3. International Art Festival), Thessaloniki (6.VideoDance Festival), Berlin and Turkey (16. Art Fair, Tuyap Center, Istanbul).
