ISHII

Ishii was born in 1975 in Fukuoka, Japan. He began his art studies in interior design and fine art. Over time, as he gained personal social-cultural experiences, his focus has slowly shifted from paintings to more complex creative activities. Based on a site-specific point of view, he is extremely interested in observing the bare cultural aspects. To precisely pursue his pure impression of the site, he does not have a predetermined method, but adds a symbolic form to the cultural peculiarities he experiences and represents them as a site-specific art piece. To cover the temporality of the site-specific works, he employs the art of video. Not only for archival purposes, but also as independent works of art providing different perspectives and angles of the physical work itself.
