Cavanaugh Brian

After moving from a rural area to an urban metropolis, Brian has found inspiration in nature, wherever it exists, in the urban landscape. Transformed and manipulated, the imagery in his work accentuates the texture, form, color, or linear qualities of each natural environment to reflect hismy initial experience –whether overlooked, destroyed by a natural disaster, or polluted with trash. As he explores the city, where every corner lends a new perspective and experience, it is refreshing to see green even if it is planted in the sidewalk or set against a backdrop of cement and fire escapes. The work he presents in digital video, projections, interactive media, and paintings are new ways to appreciate the natural world in an urban environment.
